Quick Facts

  • It is the first professional arcade stick for the Nintendo Switch.
  • It is a steel-base arcade replica that is quite faithful.

Performance

Hori veterans will feel quite at home due to the Real Arcade Pro.V Hayabusa NSW-066’s familiar parts and consequentially familiar performance that is of high quality. The joystick is looser than average, which is hit or miss depending on the player’s performance. However, the buttons are quite snappy and should appeal to everyone regardless of individual taste, making them objectively solid. The friction pads found in the base make placing the arcade stick on one’s lap or a table equally comfortable.

Hardware

Although the parts are similar to other sister arcade sticks, this unit features the flatter OG design, which will likely put off many. That is because many players prefer some sloping on the front of the case to rest their wrists. On the other hand, the more common Vewlix layout was brought back for the buttons instead of Hori’s own layout.

The headphone jack was omitted from the design. Thankfully, the arcade stick is easier to mod than average but not as easy as some other high end arcade sticks, although those other arcade sticks were exceptionally easy to mod, making the comparison potentially unfair.

Appearance

Hori hit a homerun by making the arcade stick look like a Nintendo accessory while retaining the Hori look. The black and red combination works quite well with this arcade stick, but the arcade stick will not stand out among flashier arcade sticks with more involved artwork. At least the minimalists will likely be pleased with this design.

Otherwise, our artist, Marques West, has made designs for this model before, such as these:

Conclusion

This is a decent fightstick that you can default to if you have no other option for the Nintendo Switch.

  • Reliable performance
  • Comfortable layout
