Introduction
Luxembourg’s Roro Otako Studio offers the ROS A4 Hitbox that is aluminum CNC molded. Its name comes from the acronym of the studio plus the size of it.
The buttons are Qanba Gravity, and the PCB is a pad hacked PlayStation 5 one for native wireless support. There are six secondary buttons on the upper right of the top panel, and there is also a carrying handle. There is breathing LED too.
Performance
The Qanba buttons provide good feedback in the form of sound. These buttons are responsive & durable, and the OMRON switches seal the deal, aiding in the buttons’ smooth linear actuation that is optimal for rapid button presses. You may expect the buttons to outlast a whopping 70 million presses, which would take years.
The big anti-slip pad at the bottom enhances stability during play to prevent sliding. The size of the ROS A4 makes it viable for lap play, so you won’t have to squeeze your legs together.
Hardware
The ROS A4’s size is slightly smaller than medium, and it is slimmer than David Schwimmer. The controller balances decent weight with transportability quite well, especially with the carrying handle. Plus, aluminum is one of the sturdiest materials you can play on.
With a USB-C port, the ROS A4’s pad hacked PlayStation 5 PCB means you can also play wirelessly, eliminating any possible obstruction by way of a cable.
For those who like to tinker, you may be glad to know that the PCB wires are soldered onto a pin board, so no unsoldering is required. Six screws hold the bottom panel together.
Appearance
The ROS A4 has an interesting silhouette, which makes it look like a kind of gear you would find in some machinery, and its matte blue color is pleasing to the eye. The laser engraved art is durable. The cherry on top is the breathing LED, so the diodes fade in and out of brightness smoothly.
