Performance
The buttons have lower than average clearance, which means faster inputs. Also, there is almost no learning curve with the Noir layout of the buttons that Hori seems to be preferring as of recently. When it comes to the joystick, it might be a tad too loose for seasoned arcade stick veterans but nothing of a major concern. In-game responsiveness is quite on par with other state-of-the-art Hori products the fighting game community has grown accustomed to the quality of.
Hardware
The rubber pads on the bottom of the base keep the unit from sliding around one’s lap, and the unit is equally comfortable to use if placed on a table. For those who would like a tighter joystick, the stock bracket makes the joystick easier to replace. To access the interior, the bottom panel needs to be removed, not the top one. Also, although the size of the arcade stick is perfect for play, it will take up a lot of backpack space, requiring special arrangements if to be carried around frequently.
Appearance
This is a gorgeous and minimalist arcade stick. It is a contender for the classiest arcade stick of not only this generation of gaming but also of all time. With premium quality black plastic, brushed aluminum, chromed edges, and etched logos, the Fighting Edge reaches museum artifact status with its simplistic beauty and almost resembles a spaceship.
