Introduction
From the United Kingdom with love, the BentoBox was designed to be small, customizable, and easy to carry. It is made of CNC machined acrylic.
Performance
The BentoBox features hot swappable Kailh Choc V2 switches that are low profile with a 1.3 mm actuation point and 3.2 mm travel distance. The actuation force is a low 43 g, and the lifespan is a whopping 50 million presses!
The cherry on top is the custom convex keycaps with a larger 30 mm jump button. Otherwise, the rest are 24 mm, which is the industry standard, so you are getting full sized buttons on a small controller.
Hardware
The CNC acrylic of the BentoBox is of decent quality, and the size of the controller should allow it into your pocket with ease. The cable type is USB-C, and the port comes out of the center back. You can also order a carrying case.
Pre-flashed with the open source GP4020 firmware, the BentoBox features SOCD cleaning, with the modes including neutral, up, and second input priority. There is a monochrome OLED display that shows current modes and inputs.
Input modes include XInput and DirectInput, which are how PC compatibility is achieved. XInput is for Android compatibility, and DirectInput is for PlayStation compatibility. The overclocked polling rate goes up to 1,000 Hz in all modes with less than a millisecond of input latency
Appearance
Aesthetically, the star of the show is the RGB LED that comes with multiple layout presets. Otherwise, there may be some marks on the acrylic of your BentoBox due to the CNC process.
