Introduction
Haute42 is an Evo award winning brand that often combines performance and affordability. With the T16-Texture, you get the same value that we at The Arcade Stick have gotten used to Haute42 providing over time.
Performance
The T16-Texture has 16 buttons, so you can use it to play modern fighting games. Another advantage is that this is a double layout controller, meaning you can use it like a standard leverless controller or WASD controller.
That said, the T16-Texture’s buttons are 25.8 mm, so you are relieved from smaller buttons that require more precision to press every time. As for the function buttons, they include:
- Turbo
- Home
- Back
- Start
Moving on, the T16-Texture utilizes low profile Crystal switches that are pretty fast in spite of being quieter than average. If you have another preference, these switches are actually hot swappable.
You also get a mini screen on the T16-Texture. It’s specifically on the top panel, and it gives you useful information like which input, directional, and SOCD modes you happen to be in. The screen also shows a visual representation of your button presses.
To wrap up the performance section, the T16-Texture has less than one millisecond of input delay. That’s because it runs on the excellent and open source GP2040-CE firmware, which you can update online.
Hardware
Structurally, the T16-Texture is slim. It’s mainly made of acrylic, and it’s lighter than a bantamweight fighter. Still, there’s plenty of space for your palms to rest. Also, nine screws hold the controller together.
About stability, the T16-Texture is wide enough to place on either your lap and desk. What helps even more is that there are feet at the bottom (for anti-slipping).
In the T16-Texture’s center back, there’s a USB-C port. On the right, there’s a USB-A port where you can insert a compatibility boosting adapter like the BOOTER 5.
Appearance
The textured pattern of the appropriately named T16-Texture looks elegant, and we’re happy to inform you that this controller does indeed support custom art—which we at The Arcade Stick usually provide our readers through our bestselling service. For example, our artist Carlos Martinez made this artwork for the T16 before:
(If you already have T16-Texture art, we can print and cut it for you.)
The T16-Texture also has LED that shines through the buttons attractively, making it not only a high performing controller but a beautiful controller at that.
Before you go, you may be glad to know that the T16-Texture comes with freebies like:
- Manual
- USB-C cable
- Extra switch
- Switch puller
- Eight anti-slip feet
- Three function buttons (6 mm)
