Introduction
The DUB PL8 (meaning “dubplate”) is another spinoff from the 4TW by jonyfraze. This DIY controller provides you slimness and portability while allowing you to install your own buttons & PCB.
Performance
The DUB PL8 accepts 24 mm & 30 mm snap-in buttons, and their size depends on the layout. The layouts include:

- All button +3
- 6gawd all button
- 6gawd all button split
- Shiokenstar
- Custom
The button model can be the Sanwa OBSF, Qanba Gravity KS, Punk Workshop, and so on, meaning you can use excellent buttons with the DUB PL8. As for the six function buttons, their size is 12 mm.
Now, to prevent your DUB PL8 from sliding around during play, you can request 0.16″ EVA foam bottom cushions that are black. They are recommended because they actually work!
Hardware
Since the DUB PL8 is a DIY controller, you would have to do the wiring yourself. Speaking of which, expert modding skills are needed for the wiring and putting together the controller in general. That is because of the inch-high interior of the enclosure.
On the bright side, the DUB PL8 comes with all the assembly hardware you need. Also, the acrylic is quality, so do not worry too much about damaging it.
You may be glad to know that the DUB PL8 includes mounting holes for Brook PCBs and similar boards. This means the sky is the limit when it comes to compatibility options.
Hey, you can even simplify things and can go for a simple PCB that runs on the open source GP2040-CE firmware. By the way, the DUB PL8’s panel mount is USB-B.
Appearance
The DUB PL8 is made of 6 mm cast acrylic that is black. The top cover can be 3 mm matte black acrylic or, for custom art, clear acrylic. You can request a clear acrylic cover for the bottom too. The acrylic comes with protective paper that you would have to peel off.
When it comes to its looks, the DUB PL8 has a simple but aesthetic shape with slanted corners. You can spice up its look with different colored buttons on each side.
