Introduction

The VM6R is another one of ASI’s innovative controllers, this time with multiple layouts to suit your needs.

Below are the VM6R’s layouts:

  • S24
  • S30
  • B24
  • B30
  • Legacy

Which layout do you like the most? The S24 is actually ASI’s flagship layout to maximize your ergonomic comfort. The three extra face buttons you see on the VM6R’s top panel are for the touchpad, L3, and R3.

Performance

The VM6R should be compatible with all the standard parts in the fightstick industry, including Brook PCBs, which can give you diverse compatibility as well as very little input lag. Furthermore, there is a Sanwa JLF mount for the joystick part and two Neutrix passthrough holes to insert USBs.

If you go with Sanwa buttons on your VM6R, you can expect durability and responsivity. You see, Sanwa buttons are known for their optimal travel distance. Essentially, it does not take too much effort to trigger them, but if you just rest your fingers on them, they should not get triggered accidentally either.

That said, the LH button layout can take some time to get used to, especially if you come from a Noir layout background. Speaking of which, you can go for a Noir or even Vewlix layout when ordering a VM6R if you like.

Moving on, here are some more VM6R features:

  • Iris tech
  • Lolli tech
  • Anti-slip super grips

Iris tech is essentially for the simple swapping between an Iris WASD/WASDpro, Japanese joystick, and Korean joystick. As for Lolli tech, it is for the simple swapping between an Iris TU/TUpro and 30 mm buttons. Regarding the VM6R’s grips, there is one grip for each of your legs.

The size of the VM6R is quite optimal. It is big enough to provide enough resting space for your wrists without being so big that it becomes tiring to handle. Not only that, there is also foam for each one of your wrists to rest on.

Hardware

The VM6R is CNC machined from HDPE, a plastic known for strength and durability. The controller is also covered with acrylic. Despite all of that, the hardware is relatively light.

Something interesting about the VM6R is how easy it is to open the bottom panel for, say, modding or repairs. Also, there is a carrying handle that makes traveling with the controller a convenient experience for you.

Appearance

The VM6R is a work of art, with golden (or silver) accents in just the right places that can make you feel elegant as an owner of it. You can choose the case’s color as well as the Iris color. You can even request engravement on the Iris ring, case, and carrying handle.

That said, the material of the VM6R means that the accumulation of fingerprint smudges is unavoidable. That is why you should keep a little towel on hand to use, such as once after every gaming session.

The cherry on top is that you can customize your VM6R’s art, which we at The Arcade Stick can help you with through our custom art service. In fact, we have made custom art for ASI controllers before, such as these artworks by our Petar Mitic for the ASI LVL:

Saber Alter
Seishiro
Morgan
