Introduction

The TIKITAKA S15 is a leverless controller with a dual layout, so another way you can use it is like a WASD controller—useful if you come from a keyboard background.

That said, let’s break down the controller’s name:

  • The “S” probably stands for “split layout”.
  • The “15” indicates that there are 15 buttons.

One benefit of the S15’s split layout is to give your hands more breathing space while you pull of insane combos. As for the extra buttons, they’re good for modern fighting games.

Performance

The S15’s buttons are made of textured nylon to add some grip. Due to the 3D printed nature of the buttons, they may be slightly uneven, though not in a way that should negatively affect your performance.

However…

The frames around the S15’s buttons can be both positive and negative:

  1. The upside is your fingers should not slip because the button frames can stop them.
  2. The downside is your fingernails can get temporarily stuck within the frames.

Moving on, the S15’s thumb buttons are 30 mm, and the rest of the primary buttons are 24 mm. The bigger thumb buttons let you press them with the side of each thumb without needing absolute precision.

Truthfully, you might find the S15’s buttons too close to each other for your preference—especially if you’ve had prior experience with a leverless controller—but if we were to talk about the function buttons, they serve as buttons for:

  • Home
  • Turbo
  • Select
  • Touchpad
  • Start

Now, you may want to know which switches the S15 uses. The S15B-N edition uses low profile Kailh Chocs with a linear and smooth nature. As for the S15B-H, it uses the pleasantly light Panda Axis, which is tactile with an early bump—and doesn’t sound clicky.

Regarding the S15’s width, it lets you comfortably set the controller on your lap needing to squeeze your legs together, but the controller’s edges might feel sharper than the norm.

(Fortunately, your skin shouldn’t be making contact with the S15’s edges anyway.)

Hardware

Structurally, the S15 is held together by eight screws, and generally, the controller can be described as:

  • Sturdy
  • Weighty
  • Spacious

The S15’s spaciousness provides you ample palm resting space. You might also be glad to know that the controller is thinner than a beard trimmer.

One benefit of the S15’s slimness is that you may be able to slide the controller into some tablet sleeve you already have (instead of it collecting dust in your closet).

To end the hardware section, the S15 features three USB-C ports: on the left, right, and back. The back location will likely be the most convenient location for you—to prevent the cable from being a trip hazard and so on.

Appearance

If you didn’t already know, the S15 is available in black or white, but for real, though? While this controller isn’t exactly eye candy, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Still, you may be able to get custom art on the controller to make it represent your personality.
