Introduction

The KBHX-01 is a mini WASD controller with slanted keys on the left and ergonomically arranged keys on the right. There is also another edition called the KBHX-01 R2.

Unboxing

The box of the KBHX-01 is big enough to house the controller itself as well as the cable and a keycap puller. After you open the box, you should be greeted by a foam layer with the controller, cable, and puller underneath.

The KBHX-01 has its own foam housing within the box, and the cable & puller share the same housing. Conveniently, the controller is in a protective bag.

Performance

The KBHX-01 uses XDA keycaps, and the switches have a nice spring to them. Also, the middle four attack keys are ergonomically raised to cater to your fingers.

Because of the KBHX-01’s small size, it is recommended for you to play with the controller on your desk instead of your lap, especially if you insert a dongle into the USB-A port found in the back.

Turbo is for pressing a key once and then registering multiple keystrokes in-game, requiring low effort from you. The KBHX-01 also has a screen that shows a visual representation of your live inputs as well as valuable information like:

Hardware

The KBHX-01 is made of CNC 6063 aluminum alloy on top and acrylic at the bottom. Some of the processes implemented to bring you this innovative controller include milling, sandblasting, coating, and anodization. That said, the aluminum is quite sturdy, and so is the thick acrylic, so this controller should last you a long time.

USB-C is the industry’s favorite type of port, and it is also the type of port that the KBHX-01 uses. In fact, there are two USB-C ports: one in the back and one on the left, so you can choose the location more comfortable for you. There is also a cable loop to be found in one of the corners.

In case you need different compatibility options, the KBHX-01’s PCB is hot swappable. The controller can also be compatible with a modern console if you have the appropriate dongle to insert into the USB-A port in the back. If you would like to swap out the keycaps, however, the included puller may not be the needed size.

Appearance

The KBHX-01 is nice and petite. The controller can come in different colors, such as black, white, yellow, or gray-ish. As for the acrylic bottom, it is see-through. The black cable was a good choice by DOIO to match the rest of the controller.

What truly brings the KBHX-01 to life is the RGB LED, which shines through the keys in an aesthetic way. In case you were wondering, the controller’s switches are clear, enhancing the LED’s look.
