Introduction
The KBGM-H08 is an aluminum-alloy arcade stick with Sanwa (or at least Sanwa-like) parts, Gateron switches, and two extra face buttons. These extra buttons are for up and R3. Also, there is an OLED screen that shows the input mode, directional mode, and SOCD mode, keeping you informed.
The KBGM-H08’s function buttons are the buttons that utilize Gateron switches, and these function buttons are for:
- Turbo
- Home
- L3
- R3
- Select
- Start
The size of the KBGM-H08 is regular, and there is plenty of space to rest your wrists. The arcade stick is available in different colors, whether we are talking about the joystick, buttons, or case.
At the bottom of the KBGM-H08, there are grip pads per corner. Moreover, there is an acrylic layer between the top and bottom that can emit custom RGB LED, beautifying your arcade stick further.
Performance
Because of the Omron switches, the KBGM-H08’s joystick looks and feels like a Sanwa JLF, which is known for its responsivity & springiness.
Build-wise, the detachable lever is reminiscent of Hori’s Hayabusa model, making the process of changing it harder. In any case, you may be able to pick the actuator material, spring weight, and so on. Speaking of weight, the KBGM-H08 is one of the heaviest arcade sticks in history. This can mean three things:
- Better stability on a desk
- More fatigue on your lap
- Harder to carry around
Hardware
The KBGM-H08 is made of quality material. For your convenience, the disassembly of the arcade stick can be done without any tools. Some of what you can find inside includes silencing pads for the joystick and buttons.
Regarding compatibility, the KBGM-H08 features the Raspberry Pi Pico as a PCB. While the cable is USB-C, there is a USB-A port where you can insert a dongle for PlayStation 5 compatibility.
Appearance
The case of the KBGM-H08 can have two different colors, such as one color on top and another color at the bottom. So, if you like two colors and cannot decide which one you want, this dual color option can come in handy.
All in all, if you would like a colorful arcade stick with quality parts that can work with a modern console, the KBGM-H08 may be for you. Plus, the LED is a nice added touch.
Conclusion
The DOIO KBGM-H08 is one of the most unique arcade sticks, but its main flaw is its weight.
- Overall quality
- Upgradeable compatibility
- Spec customization
- Wrist space
- Onboard screen
- Extra buttons
- Color combos
- RGB LED
- Too heavy
