Introduction

The Hori Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa (HPC-064) is a steel-base arcade replica. Hori veterans should feel quite at home due to the familiar Hayabusa parts.

Performance

The joystick is looser than average, which is hit or miss depending on the player’s taste. However, the buttons are quite snappy and should appeal to everyone regardless of individual taste, making them objectively solid. The Vewlix layout was brought back for the buttons instead of Hori’s own Noir layout.

You may be glad to know that the start button is a full sized face button, and there is also a turbo mode. The friction pads found in the base make placing the arcade stick on one’s lap or a table equally comfortable.

Hardware

Although the parts are similar to sister fightsticks, this unit features the flatter OG design, which could put off some. That is because many players prefer some sloping on the front of the case to rest their wrists. Also, a headphone jack was omitted from the design.

The arcade stick is easier to mod than average but not as easy as some other high end arcade sticks, although those other arcade sticks are exceptionally easy to mod, making the comparison potentially unfair.

Appearance

The blue and black combination works quite well with this arcade stick, but the arcade stick may not stand out among flashier arcade sticks with more involved artwork. At least the minimalists will likely be pleased with this design. Otherwise, we at The Arcade Stick have a custom artwork service.

Conclusion

This is a decent fightstick that you can default to if you have no other option.

  • Reliable performance
