Overview

Since its entry into the world of leverless controllers, Haute42 has been putting out awesome release after awesome release, but this time, its ambitions are even stronger.

The Haute42 X1 has a modular design comprised of three main modules:

  1. Upper directional buttons
  2. Lower directional buttons
  3. Attack buttons

The X1-MX edition features Module-MX, and it has:

  • Buttons with rims
  • Kailh Ice Cream switches
  • 20.6 mm buttons with one 25.8 mm jump button

As for the X1-LP edition, which features Module-LP:

  • Buttons without rims
  • Kailh Wind Engine switches
  • 23.5 mm buttons with one 25.8 mm jump button

You can switch out individual modules for something else. For example, you can have analog sticks near the bottom of the X1’s top panel.

Regarding the X1’s WASD buttons, you can switch them out for WASD keys (known as Module-G4W). This module also utilizes Kailh Ice Cream switches, which are smooth. The Kailh Wind Engine switches mentioned earlier are snappy.

You can rotate the directional module to find the angle most comfortable for you. You have up to 30° of rotation. What adds to the X1’s comfort is the generous wrist space. This controller is slim.

The X1 also has a joystick module that is called Module-S3D. Thanks to the overclocked polling rate, there is less than a millisecond of input delay, meaning this controller is fast.

With that being said, do note that the X1 is a machined aluminum controller with an injection-molded plastic bottom. Also, the controller comes with its own black case that has a zipper. However, the sense of style does not end here…

The X1 also features LED, such as in the button labels as well as what looks like light underneath the controller when set on a surface.

Needless to say, the onboard screen is back, showing your button presses live as well as the input, directional, and SOCD cleaning modes. You can make use of the X1’s turbo feature too in order to press a button once and get multiple button presses in-game.

Some of the X1’s function buttons are for:

  • Touchpad
  • Home
  • Back
  • Start

What you should also receive with your brand new X1 is a couple of extra Haute42 switches, switch puller, USB cable, and instructional manual. As for web configuration, it is embedded and built-in.

If you would like to upgrade the controller’s compatibility, there is an EXT port where you can insert the BOOTER 5 adapter. Otherwise, Haute42 fans and newcomers alike should definitely consider the X1 that adds a new dimension of customization to the reputable company’s line of controllers.
