Introduction
The Ekkusu Fight Controller is a stickless controller by Oki Bang Arcade made of acrylic and PLA. The controller’s PCB is the Raspberry Pi Pico, and it runs on the open source GP2040-CE firmware. The standard layout of the controller has 12 buttons, and the Daigo S1 layout has 15 buttons.
Performance
The Ekkusu uses Sanwa buttons, which are known for their durability and responsivity. The buttons have an optimal travel distance, so you do not need to press them too hard for an input to register, but you should also not trigger an input by accident if you just rest your fingers on them. Also, the six function buttons are bigger than average, so you do not have to be very precise when pressing them.
If you go for the multicolored edition of the Ekkusu, it may look to you like where the edges of the top panel meet with the surrounding panel would irritate your wrists, but that should not be the case. You see, Oki Bang Arcade designed this aspect with care. In fact, the controller feels premium, even if its price does not necessarily reflect that.
Moving on, the Ekkusu is a light controller, so if you need to carry it around, that should not be a problem, especially because the cable is detachable.
Speaking of which, the USB-B port is in the Ekkusu’s center back, although to the right a little bit. This location is good as the cable should not get in your way during play. It is also worth noting that there is anti-slip padding for your lap if you prefer to play that way.
Hardware
The Ekkusu is 3D printed with diligence. Six screws hold the top panel together, and the USB-B port is held by two screws. The USB-B cable is braided, and you can also insert a dongle into the controller for PlayStation 5 compatibility.
If you need to mod your Ekkusu, you may be glad to know that the interior is neat, so you should be able to navigate the wiring with ease.
Now, let us address the elephant in the room: the Ekkusu is not an ultra slim controller. One of the perks of having a thicker controller is the ease of repair. By the way, you may be able to get a stand to prop up the controller when not using it.
Appearance
The Ekkusu often has a black top panel with a surrounding panel that is in a different color like dark green sparkle, hazy clear white, or royal blue. You can also get the controller in just one color with a pattern on it. The controller may be described as rectangular with rounded corners, making the corners less sharp.
Conclusion
The Ekkusu Fight Controller being thicker than average allows it to use premium buttons like Sanwa.
