Introduction
The RTU-A4 is basically the RTU with enlarged housing and some twists. The A4 part of the name probably represents what is the most well known paper size.
Performance
The buttons feel like they have the industry standard quality. Furthermore, they are quieter than average. Their sound is reminiscent of a mouse click as opposed to a keyboard stroke, even though the RTU-A4 has switches as opposed to having a generic arcade button setup like Sanwa, for example.
The top panel of the RTU-A4 allows for plenty of wrist resting space. The inch OLED screen shows your button presses as well as your input type, turbo speed, direction type, and the SOCD cleaning mode. The secondary buttons are:
- Turbo
- Back
- Start
- Home
- LS
- RS
Hardware
The RTU-A4 is slimmer than average. Assuming you have basic screwdriving skills, the RTU-A4 should be easy to disassemble and reassemble if needed. That said, the RTU-A4 screw locations may seem awkward, but they are probably that way to house the RTU.
The RTU itself is relatively weighty, so with the RTU-A4, you should expect even more weight, but that is probably a blessing in disguise as weightiness often corresponds with stability.
The PCB of the RTU-A4 is the Raspberry Pi Pico running the GP2040 firmware, so the input latency should be less than a millisecond, which is negligible. Your unit should come with a USB cable, Allen key, switch puller, and anti-slipping feet.
Appearance
Perhaps the nicest appearance element about the RTU-A4 is that the housing is not visually separate from the RTU, well, at least when looking at the top panel.
The bottom panel is unfortunately unsightly with the RTU being visible and whatnot, but you might like that. Otherwise, to the untrained eye, your RTU-A4 should look like its own controller.
Customize your RTU-A4’s art with us here at The Arcade Stick through our artwork service. Otherwise, the stock black & white Chun-Li art looks nice and somewhat masks the screws.

The RTU-A4 is a fantastic variant of the RTU for those who would like more wrist resting space and so on.
