Introduction
The Fighting King is a plastic arcade stick made in China. The concept is that you set your Nintendo Switch on the arcade stick to replicate the arcade cabinet feel.
Performance
The Fighting King has a clicky joystick, but the buttons sound clunky. Moreover, they have a bit of an aggressive curve to their layout.
The function buttons are for:
- Home
- Minus
- Plus
- Turbo
- ZL
- ZR
Thanks to the four anti-slip rubber corners at the bottom, stability is enhanced when playing with the Fighting King on a table. Also, there is some resting space for your upper palms.
The Fighting King docks the Switch quite well, even if you deliberately try to rattle the arcade stick around to make the Switch come off.
No noticeable input latency was experienced when testing this arcade stick, whether we are talking about a fighting game or another genre.
Hardware
This is a plastic arcade stick, and while it does not necessarily come with premium Sanwa parts, for example, the parts are not too shabby, especially if we are talking about the joystick, although you may find the arcade stick too stiff.
Now, if you struggle to connect the Fighting King to your Switch, try configuring the Switch’s options to activate the pro controller mode: home > system settings > controllers and sensors > pro controller wired communication
For your knowledge, the USB-C port is on the left, and the Fighting King comes with a detachable cable that is USB-C to A. In case you are interested, here are the voltages and currents of the Fighting King:
Stage | Voltage | Current |
---|---|---|
Input | 15 V | 2.6 A |
Working | 5 V | 20 mA |
Output | 15 V | 1.2 A |
Appearance
With a black body, red joystick, and red buttons, the intriguing racecar artwork of the Fighting King is reminiscent of another mysterious product that is possibly by the same manufacturer, which is the 4 in 1 Joystick. Also, the cable being black is quite befitting.
