Overview
You may know SLTESJ as a reputable printer of Smash controllers, but it expanded into producing its own leverless controller, the SLTE Leverless Controller. It is based on SLTESJ’s digital files codenamed Purple Project Redux.
That said, the SLTE has a 3D printed frame with FR-4 PCB panels in the front and back. However, this is not a fully 3D printed controller… The truth of the matter is that a heavy metal frame is part of the mixture.
At least when it comes to the first few units of the SLTE released, the layout is called Stickless+, and it allows for extra bindings to play Street Fighter and Tekken smoothly.
You see, the double bounded left input allows you efficiency on the two player side of Tekken. We are talking about techniques like wavedashes and electrics.
The fact of the matter is the SLTE rocks SiTong buttons with low profile Ghost switches that are hot swappable with switches in the Choc V2 style. There are 15 main buttons and six function buttons. These function buttons are for:
- Start
- Select
- Home
- Touchpad
- L3
- R3
As for compatibility, the SLTE achieves it through the open source GP2040-CE firmware that is critically acclaimed, and included is a built-in configuration app.
Speaking of which, you can see the GP2040-CE logo at the bottom of the controller (as well as SLTE text). The controller is held together by seven screws.
By the way, you can use a dongle to extend the compatibility of your SLTE, and if you were wondering, the USB-C port for the cable can be found in the back center.
In case you are still not impressed by the SLTE, you may be excited to know that there is a carriage handle or wire loop on the right side of the controller!
Just a final note about 3D printed products: they are often assembled by hand, and the case with the SLTE is no different. So, your unit may arrive with a bit of a “nuanced” look, but SLTESJ still tries its best to ensure the quality of the product it delivers to you, including testing its functionality.
So, decide whether you would like the SLTE in white or black, and conquer the next tournament with it!
