Introduction
Over time, Scott from JackWagon FightSticks has been attempting again and again at making the most inclusive fighting game controller. He may have very well achieved that with the OKI Hatch Service Deck!
The OKI Hatch is a DIY controller that you can order in lever or leverless format. Whichever layout you think will get you closer to your tournament winning dreams, go for it—yet this controller’s number one feature is its easy opening.
Unboxing
The highlight of the OKI Hatch’s unboxing experience could be its optional addons, which include an interchangeable K-lever collar insert that’s compatible with mid/full collar configurations. Another optional addon would be a Phreak Mods removable lever-shaft holder for convenient storage.
Performance
JackWagon FightSticks wants the OKI Hatch to be as custom as possible for you. This includes custom layouts. If you don’t have a custom layout in mind, here are some default layouts:
- All button plus 3
- All button 24 mm
- Hitstick 24 mm
- WASD Sega 2P
- Shiokenstar
If you go for the OKI Hatch’s lever edition, you can choose from (1) Sanwa and half collar or (2) full collar Korean lever options. You may also be delighted to know that there are four anti-slip rubber feet for stability on desks. As for lap play, there are a couple of 6 mm EVA foam bottom pads for that (one pad per leg).
Hardware
While it’s cool that the OKI Hatch can be 1.5″, 1.75″, or 2″ tall, we’ve already established that this controller’s core feature is its easy opening. More specifically, it has a top-access hinged lid for upgrades and maintenance.
Not only that, the OKI Hatch has ball-tension snap closures to keep that lid shut securely. More than that, there’s a stainless-steel support cable to limit the lid’s travel, protecting the hinge. In essence, the controller opens up like a clamshell, briefcase, and so on.
On the OKI Hatch’s right side, there could be three fully sized function buttons. Another option would be six smaller function buttons on top for:
- Home/PS
- Start
- Share
- L3
- R3
- Touchpad
There’s even more. The OKI Hatch has a mounting matrix or internal tooling grid for PCBs, addons, custom hardware, and storage space. Inside the controller, there’s storage space for accessories like, say, 24 or 30 mm backup buttons.
On a side note, the OKI Hatch has an optional carrying handle. By default, this carrying handle goes on the left side, whereas the USB-B port is in the back left.
Appearance
Your brand new OKI Hatch can come in these colors:
- Matte black
- White
- Clear
Even the OKI Hatch’s corner brackets can come in these colors:
- Red
- Black
- White
- Mixed
For custom OKI Hatch art, we invite you to hire our artists here at The Arcade Stick. We have a dedicated custom art service that’s been running for years. By the way, this controller supports side and bottom panel art too.
