Introduction
To all retro gamers: track your way to victory with the FightBox R10-Pro’s trackball! And spin your way to glory with its spinner… What’s also cool about this arcade stick is that you can use it for games that don’t need a trackball or spinner as well. Furthermore, you can buy the R9 if you just need a spinner—and the R10 if you just need a trackball.
Performance
It’s awesome that the R10-Pro has a flexible and responsive Sanwa joystick, but it’s not that awesome that its buttons are Baolian… The truth is that Baolian buttons are supposed to be Sanwa-like, although they’re a bit stiffer—with a longer travel distance.
Also, Baolian buttons aren’t as snappy, and they’re not as smooth. The worst case scenario is that you swap out the R10-Pro’s buttons for some crispy Sanwas.
On the bright side, the legendary Vewlix layout is featured. Moreover, the R10-Pro has function buttons on its top and side panels for uses like:
- L2
- R2
- Start
- Select
- Pinball games
- Inserting coins
Not only that, the R10-Pro has a wrist slope for your comfort, but let’s be honest: aren’t you most excited to learn more about the trackball and spinner?
Well, here’s the deal: the R10-Pro has a 3″ LED trackball, and its spinner is powered by the Arduino Pro Micro. Put simply, the spinner is an aluminum alloy knob with a tactile feel and adjustable height.
Hardware
Essentially, the R10-Pro is a metallic arcade stick with an acrylic top. At the bottom, you can find four rubber feet for more stability. In general, this arcade stick is quite hefty, and frankly, it’s rather large too.
That said, the R10-Pro utilizes a combo of a zero delay arcade-joystick controller board and RP2040 Advanced Breakout Board to run on the GP2040-CE firmware that is:
- Low latency
- Open source
- Widely popular
- Updatable online
- Decently compatible
PS: The R10-Pro’s USB-B port is in a convenient center-back location.
Appearance
In addition to its glowing trackball, the R10-Pro’s geometric art truly stands out, but because this arcade stick has an acrylic panel on top, you can probably customize its art, which we at The Arcade Stick are excited to help you out with through our dedicated service!
Actually, here’s a sample by our artist Felipe Fernandez for his client’s R10-Pro, and he can beautify yours too:
(We understand that you may have some R10-Pro digital art already. In that case, we can just print it for you.)
Conclusion
The R10-Pro is a three-in-one package. Its highlights are its Sanwa joystick, metallic spinner, and LED trackball. Remember: If you only need a spinner, buy the R9, and if you only need a trackball, buy the R10. Spin your way to glory, and track your way to victory!
