Introduction
A wood floor doesn’t only have to be something you step on with your bare feet. It can also be a leverless controller, such as the WoodFloor by Shoebill Gaming.

Your WoodFloor is unlikely to arrive with a million freebies, but you can still make use of:

Performance
The WoodFloor is available in 14 and 13 button editions. The 14 button edition has a split layout, so you can jump with your left thumb, whereas you may be able to use your right thumb and right index finger to press something like Drive Parry & Drive Impact in Street Fighter 6. Meanwhile, the 13 button edition only has one thumb button, which is for jumping.
In any case, your WoodFloor’s thumb-button size will likely be 25 mm, and the rest of the buttons should be 20 mm. Bigger thumb buttons mean easier thumb-side pressing.
Additionally, the WoodFloor’s attack buttons seem to have a modified Vewlix layout of sorts. Also, take note of the distance between the left, down, and right buttons to the up button.
That said, the WoodFloor uses Cherry MX Speed Silver switches for fast inputs, and you can even hot swap them if you want with other Cherry MX-style switches. Otherwise, here are the Cherry MX Speed Silver switches’ specs for your reference:

Hardware
While the WoodFloor is wide, it remains slim and light. Furthermore, you can find a USB-C port in the center of its back part.
Moreover, the WoodFloor runs on the speedy GP2040-CE firmware, and Shoebill Gaming tested the controller on all three of:

- PC
Appearance
The WoodFloor is a work of art. It’s made of walnut veneer (a type of wood) and finished with a urethane varnish that’s water-based.
Walnut veneer is made of thin slices of walnut wood that are bonded to something like plywood or MDF, resulting in luxurious-looking wood without breaking the bank.
On the other hand, a water-based urethane varnish:
- Dries fast
- Looks clear
- Doesn’t smell
- Resists yellowing
- Cleans up easily
(You may want to use water and soap to clean your WoodFloor occasionally.)
Conclusion
The WoodFloor’s 14-button split layout allows you to move your hands around more freely, whereas the 13-button standard-ish layout still has a right index button for something like Drive Impact.
