Introduction

If you like to tinker, you might be interested in building the Mavercade Light Heavyweight, which is quite easy to assemble. So, brew a cup of joe, and read on to find out why!

Performance

The Light Heavyweight is compatible with some of the best buttons out there, such as Sanwa. We are talking about Sanwa buttons with SW-68 CAU or CAU2 switches. Even Sanwa buttons with right angled quick connectors are compatible. Not only that, you can install Sanwa buttons with bent pins and straight quick connectors too.

Here’s a quick guide on some of the Sanwa parts mentioned above:

  • CAU: precise and tactile
  • CAU2: fast and durable

As for the two other types of Sanwa buttons:

  1. The right angled quick connectors are sleek and space-efficient.
  2. The bent pins and straight quick connectors are reliably hassle-free.

That said, there are six function button holes in the Light Heavyweight’s back—with a size of 18 mm each. There can be enough function buttons to meet modern fighting game requirements. Also, the function button holes can fit the smoothly precise Sanwa SDM-18 switches.

You may also be glad to know that there is foam at the bottom that prevents the Light Heavyweight from sliding while you try to go on a winning streak online.

You see, the Light Heavyweight is suitable to set on your desk, but if you’d rather set it on your lap, the enclosure is wide enough not to have to squeeze your thighs together.

Hardware

The Light Heavyweight’s hardware is robust. It’s made of durable metal, specifically aluminum. All you have to do is buy the metallic top panel to complete your build.

Another reason it’s easy to build the Light Heavyweight is because of the PCB mounting points. To be specific, there are mounting points for Brook boards, providing you wide compatibility with consoles—and close to no input delay. It’s also worth mentioning that the wiring is of quality.

Moving on, the Light Heavyweight has a USB hole for an Adafruit USB-C panel mounted passthrough, which is included with your purchase. It gives you seamless and effortless longevity.

Moreover, there are mounting points on the sides for quick release clips so you can carry the Light Heavyweight more easily with a shoulder strap.

(Depending on when you read this article, Mavercade may or may not be able to offer you the shoulder strap itself. Fortunately, it shouldn’t be hard for you to find a shoulder strap source yourself.)

Appearance

Your brand new Light Heavyweight should arrive with a fresh coat of semi-gloss black paint. You can mix up the button colors too. Hey, you can even add custom art, which we at The Arcade Stick dabble in!

For example, check out the design below by our artist Felipe Fernandez for his client’s Light Heavyweight (and Felipe would be happy to serve you too):

(Alternatively, we can print your preexisting Light Heavyweight art for you.)

You just have to order an additional acrylic panel to add custom art to your Light Heavyweight. Thankfully, Mavercade’s acrylic is cut with precision—one of many signs that this brand has years of experience in the fightstick industry.

Conclusion

If you just can’t decide between a light or heavy controller, the Mavercade Light Heavyweight solves that problem.

  • Precise acrylic
  • Fresh paint
  • Custom art
