Introduction
Wanna know one major improvement of the Joytron EX Revolution over the V1? It has a recessed start button, which makes it harder for you to accidentally press at a tournament.
We’d love to do a deeper dive into the EX Revolution for you, but first, let us disclaim that this fightstick is a clone of:
- Joytron All-in-One Real Arcade E3
- 8BitDo N30
- Mayflash F300
- Mayflash F300 Elite
- Venom Arcade Fight Stick
Unboxing
The highlight of the EX Revolution’s unboxing experience is its useful manual, which comes in a physical format, but you can also download it online. Don’t speak Korean? Not an issue—you can use a plugin to translate the PDF.
Performance
What makes the EX Revolution different from its clones? A few things, actually, such as using the fantastic Crown SDB-201C buttons that are:
- Soft
- Quiet
- Rounded
Not only that, the EX Revolution allows you to choose from the following acclaimed levers:
| Lever | Top | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Crown 303FJ | Bat | Short throw |
| Crown 307FJ | Bat | Tighter resistance |
| Crown 309FJ | Bat | Heavier tension |
| Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT | Ball | Ultra smooth |
Hardware
The EX Revolution’s stable feel comes from its ABS case with a bottom metallic panel—where you can also see four feet (of the bigger kind).
Wanna go inside the EX Revolution? There are six screws at the bottom—not too many to unscrew. Moreover, the fightstick has a wrist slope for your comfort as you game for hours.
That being said, the following are the EX Revolution’s toggles and function buttons:
- XInput / NS / DInput / PS3
- X / Y / D-pad
- Turbo 1 / turbo 2
- Turbo
- Select / share / back / view
- PS / home
- Start / options / menu
If you have something like a MagicBoots adapter already: just insert it into the back USB-A port, and your EX Revolution should then be compatible with PlayStation 5 fighting games.
Just note that native controllers are needed to connect the EX Revolution to consoles like the Xbox Series X. Compatibility with the Nintendo Switch, Android, and so on should be good to go out of the box.
Appearance
The EX Revolution’s black vibe is easy on the eyes. See what joystick & button colors Joytron has in stock, and embellish your fightstick according to your taste.
If you’re bold enough to place a vinyl wrap on your EX Revolution, we at The Arcade Stick can offer you our custom art service. Our designer Carlos Martinez made art for a similar fightstick before—and can design more for you too:
Conclusion
If you’re digging how you can deck out your EX Revolution with sick Crown parts—but don’t live in Korea—then it’s a good idea to order it via a proxy service.
