Introduction
For Haute42, dominating the leverless market wasn’t enough… Instead, it wants to dominate the fightstick market too, and the proof is the C-AS!
Then again, the C-AS isn’t Haute42’s first rodeo in the fightstick market… As a matter of fact, this Evo award-winning company has released at least one controller with a joystick module before, but this new fightstick has a salad of sick features that you absolutely have to read on to discover.

Performance
The joystick from Haute42’s X series is back! It’s also magnetic. You actually get to choose from three gates for the C-AS:
- Octagonal gate
- Circular gate
- Square gate
That said, the joystick is coupled with PBT buttons that have a “dry” feel, and the buttons are in the popular Sega 2P layout. The C-AS actually has 11 buttons this time around. By default, the extra index button is for macros, and the two thumb buttons are for the left & right sticks.
You can actually replace the thumb buttons with analog sticks for your C-AS! Otherwise, the thumb buttons are 26 mm, while the other buttons are 24 mm.
Moving on, the C-AS uses Wind Engine switches for quieter yet still speedy operation. Don’t like these switches? No worries, they’re hot swappable for your convenience.
Meanwhile, it’s neat that the C-AS has the square function buttons below. At their 14.5 mm size, they’re not tiny pins:
- Start
- Back
- Home
- T
T stands for turbo, by the way. Other than that, the C-AS has a tournament lock to disable those function buttons when competing. You don’t want to press any function buttons accidentally, right? These function buttons use Hide Mountain switches, which are clickier and louder than Wind Engine switches.
Anyway, you may be excited about the adjustable button travel! Below are the levels at your behest. Which level will you be choosing for your C-AS to get you closer to your tournament winning dreams?
| Level | Description | Value |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Long | 1.0 mm |
| 2 | Medium | 0.6 mm |
| 3 | Short | 0.3 mm |
| Total | Travel | 1.9~2.6 mm |
Hardware
The C-AS is big and weighty yet slim. Up top, it has a CNC aluminum alloy panel that can be ejected with the press of one button located at the bottom.
The bottom is where you can also find the anti-slip pad that keeps your C-AS in place while you wavedash your way to tournament victory.
Not just that, the C-AS has a wrist slope to keep your wrists nice and healthy. Other than this, we did want to mention the OLED screen found on the top panel’s upper left corner, which shows:
- Turbo mode
- Input mode
- Directional mode
- SOCD cleaning mode
- Custom splash screen
- Live button press animation
The gig isn’t over yet, folks. The C-AS actually has two USB-C ports: one in the back and one on the left. The left USB-C port is standard, whereas the one in the back has a locking mechanism to stay safer than a chocolate wafer.
There’s even one more USB port, which is a USB-A extension port. Essentially, you can insert the likes of the BOOTER 5 adapter to make your C-AS compatible with even more consoles.
Before we move on, wanna go inside the C-AS? Within, you can find some storage space that has a couple of Wind Engine switches—as well as two joystick silicone caps and two rim adjustment sheets (for adjustable button travel).
Appearance
Although quite different, the C-AS is giving off Varmilo Kassai vibes. Aside from that, this innovative fightstick is available in these three colors:
- Silver
- Gold
- Purple
Truthfully, the C-AS has got that carbon fiber look. Even better, it’s UV coated for fingerprint resistance. The syrup on top is custom RGB backlighting—along with button LEDs—that can make the fightstick glow like a lightsaber. If you’re not an LED fan, you can just turn it off using the light lock (near the tournament lock).
Conclusion
It’s incredible how slim the C-AS is despite having a joystick! Its adjustable button travel is equally insane, and its magnetic panel is simply priceless. Finally, being able to replace the extra thumb buttons with analog sticks is rare.
