Overview
Does SSR mean Soviet Socialist Republic? Nah, SSR is a Japanese BOOTH shop that sells leverless controllers and DIY cases with an industrial vibe, such as the 01WH controller.
It’s tough to know why the shop is called SSR, but since it has a shark logo, it’s to be assumed that shark is part of the acronym. As for 01WH, could it mean white, hinged, and the first of its kind?
Anyway, SSR allows you to choose the 01WH’s button layout—as well as the number of buttons. Just let SSR know your preferences, and SSR can drill your case accordingly.
You can ask for three or more extra buttons than usual. You see, the 01WH was made with Street Fighter 6 in mind, which has mechanics like the Drive Impact/Parry (that benefit from extra buttons), but needless to say, you can use this controller with other games too.
Otherwise, the 01WH can come with responsive Sanwa buttons preinstalled for you. Specifically, here’s the lineup:
- 14 Sanwa main buttons (24 mm)
- 3 Sanwa function buttons (24 mm)
- Sanwa jump button (30 mm)
Pretty standard stuff, and the 01WH’s jump button is expectedly bigger than the rest (for easier side-thumb pressing), but did you have another button brand in mind? No problem, let SSR know, and SSR will try to accommodate you.
By the way, the three function buttons are usually in the 01WH’s back right. The back right is a convenient location for us primarily right handed fighting gamers, no? Also, the center back is where the USB passthrough is, and fortunately, SSR provides you a cable with your newly bought controller.
At this point, we’d like to confirm to you that the 01WH features SOCD cleaning for tournament legality. An additional performance element is that the controller has a non-slip bottom to keep it stable on whatever surface you place it on. Speaking of which, the controller is wide enough to place on your lap with comfort.
That said…
The 01WH is made of material used in cars and so on, resulting in a product that’s sturdy. Namely, there’s a 5 mm thick composite board as part of the construction.
Via a hinge design, the 01WH is openable like a toolkit for your convenience. If anything happens to your controller over time, SSR can repair it.
And visually?
The 01WH is white with silver accents, but it’s mission critical to note that the controller is made by hand, so there may be some tiny scratches, though SSR tries to avoid scratches as much as humanly possible.
