Introduction

You may know SmallCab as a French arcade parts store. The truth is it also carries some cases that may interest you, such as this one leverless case with 12 buttonholes called the Leverless Black Metal Case.

There’s also a lever case—with a Korean lever being possible. With that being said, let’s dive deeper into the case with the more popular layout: leverless.

Performance

The leverless layout this time around is pretty standard. You mainly have 24 mm buttonholes, and then the jump buttonhole is 30 mm.

Six function buttonholes (24 mm) can be found in the back—with two buttonholes on the left and four more on the right. Furthermore, a USB-B passthrough hole is located approximately in the center back.

Having said that, here are four compatible button brands:

  1. Sanwa
  2. Crown
  3. Seimitsu
  4. GamerFinger

Not only that, the case has plastic supports for the installation of a high end Brook PCB for low latency and multiplatform compatibility.

Hardware

Essentially, the case is made of 2 mm thick steel of noticeably high quality. This thing is heavy! And it’s big… That said, you may be glad to know:

  • All the needed screws are preassembled.
  • There’s an internal USB 2.0 cable that’s 25 cm.
  • There’s also an included anti-slip bottom mat.

In general, the case is not hard to put together. Just note that—especially if you get the lever case—the lever holes may be smaller than needed, requiring you to apply some force as you screw the lever on—enlarging the holes.

Appearance

For real, though? This case is blacker than Sirius Black, and it’s painted with smooth epoxy. Because the case comes with plexiglass, you can have it display the custom art of your dreams.

Speaking of which, we at The Arcade Stick can help you with that through our custom art service. Just note that your case may have some small imperfections due to the powder coating and all.

Conclusion

A heavy steel case like this one ensures that it doesn’t slide around while you play, especially with the anti-slip bottom mat. It also allows you to install premium parts, and given the customizable art, you can win stylishly for years with this durable case—making it a worthwhile investment.
