Introduction
Reject your opponent’s moves with the Reject Arcade Controller! It’s available in lever and leverless editions with the following nomenclature:
- Reject Arcade Controller
- Reject Arcade Controller Leverless
That said, the Reject Arcade Controller was developed in collaboration with the legendary Japanese pro, Haitani. For your information, Reject is a Japanese eSports team that also sells gear.
Unboxing
Your Reject Arcade Controller should arrive with:
- Sanwa OBSF-24-K spare button
- Black USB-C to A cable
- Quick start guide
(Note that the lever edition comes installed with a Sanwa JLX2-TPML-8YT-SK-K joystick.)
Performance
The Reject Arcade Controller’s lever edition has 11 buttons, whereas the leverless edition has 15 buttons. Another way that the leverless edition is different is that it has a 30 mm jump button—instead of having all 24 mm buttons.
Then again, the Reject Arcade Controller’s lever edition has a jump toggle switch. Usually, you can jump with a joystick by moving it up, and you can also use the three extra buttons (in the 11 button layout) as attack buttons.
If you activate the jump toggle switch, however, you can no longer jump with the joystick. Instead, you can use one of the Reject Arcade Controller’s extra buttons as a jump button. This has actually been called “Haitani mode”.
But why disable the joystick’s jumping ability?
That’s because the Reject Arcade Controller’s jump toggle switch can prevent accidental jumping—as well as make certain inputs smoother.
In general, the Reject Arcade Controller’s Sanwa joystick & buttons are responsive and durable. The joystick specifically is flexible & clicky, while the buttons require only a light press from you to trigger. They produce a satisfying sound.
On a side note, the Reject Arcade Controller’s mode selector lets you choose from three modes:
- Normal mode
- Training mode
- Tournament mode
Hardware
As a big controller with ample palm space, the Reject Arcade Controller is made of ABS resin and has a top panel thickness of 4 mm. Down yonder, it has five non-slip mats to stay stable on your lap or desk.
The crux of the matter is that the Reject Arcade Controller is available in two compatibility versions: a PC version and a Brook version. If you can afford it, the Brook version has a PCB from one of the most reputable companies in the industry, and the low latency board is compatible with:
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4
- Nintendo Switch 2
- Nintendo Switch
- PC
Not only that, the Reject Arcade Controller has a couple of carrying handles at the bottom that you can use to carry it at a tournament. Moreover, the bottom panel opens up with a hinge using just your fingers, so you can quickly access the neat, color-coded internals. In there, you can also store items from the USB-C cable to tools and spare buttons.
For your convenience, the Reject Arcade Controller’s USB-C cable is detachable from the lockable port that’s located in a central back spot.
Appearance
The Reject Arcade Controller has an elegant, almost metallic-looking aesthetic. Beyond that, its top panel’s sides slope down in a sleek way.
While the Reject Arcade Controller is mainly black, it has red accents that give it some much needed flair. Not just that, you can also order this controller with Evo artwork.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, you really want to buy the Reject Arcade Controller for its mostly 24 mm buttons and the jump toggle switch, which is a rare feature that may reduce your input errors. If you go for the leverless edition, its 15 Sanwa buttons are still great. It’s also assuring that a pro like Haitani co-developed this controller.
