Introduction
The word “Nemo” may remind you of two things:
- The certified hood classic movie, Finding Nemo
- One of the world’s most legendary professional fighting gamers
In this case, the second option is the relevant one. You see, the M-GAMING A02 is a fightstick endorsed by Nemo—the legendary professional fighting gamer from Japan. In other words, he took part in designing the fightstick with high level play in mind.
That said, the A02 is an improvement over the original A01. One improvement is that you have a couple of editions:
- Nemo edition with 24 and 30 mm buttons
- Other edition with all 30 mm buttons
Performance
The A02 is an 11 button fightstick, so it has three more buttons than usual. These buttons are marked clearly with their white color—as opposed to the usual eight buttons’ black color.
Furthermore, the A02’s extra buttons are placed uniquely, which is one of the many unique elements this fightstick provides you. For the Nemo edition specifically, the two rightmost buttons are the only 30 mm buttons.
Having said that, the A02’s Nemo edition uses only the best of the best parts:
- Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK joystick
- Sanwa OBSF-24 buttons
- Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons
We’re talking about parts that are responsive and durable. More than that, the lever’s height is adjustable. As for the function buttons in the A02’s back right, their roles may change depending on if you’re on the Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and so on. For example, the three function buttons when on the PlayStation 5 can be:
- Options
- Create
- PS
Another unique offering the A02 provides you is its 4° ergonomic slope to keep your wrists comfortable. Not only that, there are also several bottom feet.
Hardware
The A02 is a larger-than-average fightstick. Six screws can be seen from a top-down view of it. Regarding the bottom, you can pop it open without any tedious tools. Instead, there’s a big screw you can unscrew with one hand.
Once you’re inside the A02, you’ll likely enjoy the sight of the fairly organized wiring. Compatibility-wise, this fightstick is actually a participant in the Brook Inside program. Essentially, the fightstick runs on one of the finest PCBs known to humankind: the Brook Gen-5.
The Gen-5 allows you diverse compatibility with modern consoles—plus almost zero latency. And the USB-C port where you can insert the cable? You can find it in the A02’s center back—a tactical location.
Appearance
M-GAMING did something interesting with the A02’s look… It looks a bit old school—yet features enough new school design elements not to make you look like a caveman with it.
To be more specific: the A02’s color is called shadow black, and the mixture of black & white buttons is pleasant to see. Lastly, the M-GAMING logo is tucked elegantly into the top panel’s upper left corner.
Conclusion
If a pro like Nemo designed the A02, he must have designed it in a way that gets you more wins. May you win Capcom Cup with this fightstick!
