Introduction
Could it be a fan of Donald Trump? You see, one place you can buy the Finish Move from is a BASE shop called MIX TRUMP. In addition, you can buy the controller from Amazon—as well as Finish Move’s own site.
Unboxing
With your brand new Finish Move, you should also be receiving:
- USB-C to A cable
- Mini screwdriver
- Finish Move sticker
Performance
Let’s start the performance section of this review a little differently. The Finish Move’s three system buttons are for:
- PS
- Share
- Option
Need touchpad, L3, and R3 buttons too? No worries, the Finish Move has those as fully sized buttons. Not just that, these are responsive Sanwa buttons that are probably the most popular worldwide.
With that, it’s vital to note that the Sanwa buttons are 24 mm. You see, the Finish Move was designed with smaller Japanese hands in mind, but even Zevaeros of The Arcade Stick (a Westerner) prefers such smaller buttons.
That being said, the Finish Move cleverly dedicates two extra buttons to your right thumb, but more importantly, it gives your right index finger one more button to press than usual. You can find that index button between the attack and directional buttons. This is a rare location you won’t often find elsewhere.
The Finish Move’s button performance is boosted with very low input latency—provided by either a reliable Raspberry Pi Pico chip or high end Brook PCB, depending on your console compatibility needs.
Even the Pico is a decent enough option—as it runs on the open source GP2040-CE firmware that we at The Arcade Stick have come to love over the years, but how do you even find that chip?
Hardware
To find the Pico chip, you can conveniently open up your Finish Move magnetically—without the need for tedious tools or anything like that—because there are four magnets. Inside, the wiring is quite organized.
The Finish Move’s brilliantly designed and made in Japan. Specifically, it’s 3D printed from PLA—a quality plastic known for being:
- Rigid
- Sleek
- Durable
- Lightweight
To add, the Finish Move is about the size of an A4 sheet of paper, making it convenient to carry—as well as place on your lap (or desk). The bottom anti-slip mat helps with stability too.
Appearance
Frankly, the Finish Move is one of the coolest looking controllers we’ve ever seen. It looks like what a racecar driver would use in his or her free time when playing fighting games. Think Danica Patrick playing Street Fighter 6!
That said, the Finish Move is available in three colors:
- Black
- Blue
- Pink
This only scratches the surface of what the colors actually are—because the Finish Move also has a bunch of accents in different colors, such as red accents on the black edition.
(By the same token, the blue and pink editions are more like white editions with blue and pink accents.)
Speaking of scratches, though, your Finish Move may arrive with some scratches, but they shouldn’t be that noticeable. Otherwise, another way the controller looks distinguished is how its directional buttons can have a different color than the attack buttons. The same applies to the system buttons.
Yet, perhaps the Finish Move’s most beautiful aspect is its shape. The enclosure itself is fairly rectangular, but the acrylic top has some geometric grooves that make the controller look cutting edge. The controller’s top is actually more like three multicolored acrylic layers. On a closing note, the Finish Move logo is nicely subtle.
Conclusion
To summarize the Finish Move’s value stack, it provides you more buttons than usual and in an innovative layout that may make you a better player overnight—whether you play Street Fighter, Tekken, Guilty Gear, or another game.
The Finish Move has got great buttons too, and you can carry it around fairly easily—all while looking like an elite Formula 1 driver at the next major tournament.
