Overview
Akecon is a Japanese store that has been around for years and ships worldwide. Its Leaf model can be ordered in leverless or lever format—with the former format being called the Leaf Stickless and the latter format, Leaf Fightstick.
That said, the Leaf uses the durable and responsive Sanwa OBSC buttons. These low friction buttons have a consistent actuation and rebound. Check out these other compatible buttons:
- Samducksa
- GamerFinger
- Qanba Gravity KS
- Seimitsu (Alutimo included)
The Leaf’s jump button is bigger than the other buttons, allowing you to press it with either thumb’s side more easily. The function buttons are fully sized, and there are three of them (on the top panel):
- Home
- Back
- Start
If you’re purchasing the Leaf’s fightstick edition instead, it comes in a Vewlix layout with three extra buttons. There’s plenty of wrist resting space as well.
Since it’s about the size of A4, the Leaf is wide enough to comfortably place on your lap. Not just that, there’s a 5 mm Akecon anti-slip pad that covers the entire bottom.
Moving onto hardware!
Structurally, the Leaf is made of acrylic held together by four screws—with the USB passthrough coming out the back left. Akecon usually tries to ship this controller with the latest Brook PCB compatible with modern consoles, having almost zero lag.
Visually, the Leaf’s sides & bottom are see-through, allowing you to see the neat and spacious interior. You can even access the interior magnetically without a screwdriver.
To describe the Leaf’s shape, it has two opposing right-angle corners and two opposing round corners. You can buy this controller in colors that range from grape to red. Don’t worry—its clear matte surface prevents the accumulation of smudges.
You can even choose different colors for the main, extra, and function buttons. Needless to say, the Leaf’s joystick can have a different color too.
So, who is the Leaf for?
- Someone who finds colors important
- Someone who values parts compatibility
- Someone who loves toolless disassembly
- Someone who prefers anti-smudge matte
- Someone who requires a smaller controller
- Someone who prefers an interesting shape
- Someone who likes bigger function buttons
- Someone who adores a see-through design
- Someone who plays on a variety of consoles

- Someone who needs more buttons than usual
Maybe that someone is you!
