Introduction

You have stumbled across the Standard series of Ultra Arcade, which is a custom controller maker based in Brazil and Spain. You can go for the Pro or Lite series as well, but in this article, let’s focus on the Standard series, which is available in these four formats:

  1. Leverless
  2. Keyboard
  3. Arcade stick
  4. Dual directional

Not only that, the Standard series comes in basic, slim, and mini editions. That said, let’s move on!

Performance

The Standard can come with Sanwa parts that are responsive and sound satisfying—with the buttons specifically having an optimal travel distance. If you go for the arcade stick format, it can have a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT joystick and Sanwa OBSF buttons in layouts like:

  • Vewlix
  • American
  • Astro City
  • Inverted

Both the Standard’s arcade stick and dual directional formats are available with a Japanese or Korean lever. As for the restrictor gate, it can be one of these three:

  1. Octagonal
  2. Square
  3. Round

When it comes to the Standard’s keyboard format, it can have buttons plus keys—or just keys. The keys would be infused with the linear, fast, and smooth Cherry MX Speed Silver switches.

Hardware

The Standard is an acrylic controller that’s quite wide, but its weight is moderate. It runs on the open source GP2040-CE firmware that’s low latency and updateable online.

Furthermore, the Standard has passthrough support to upgrade its compatibility and support additional modern consoles by inserting your own dongle. Ultra Arcade also allows you to order the controller with PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X fighting game compatibility.

Appearance

Take a look at the illustration below that our artist Gilbert Han put together for his client’s Ultra Arcade case. We’re showing it to you to let you know the type of art he can illustrate for your Standard as well:

You can be pretty creative with the Standard’s joystick and/or button colors too—in addition to three acrylic types:

  1. Matte
  2. Opaque
  3. Transparent

Additionally, you can request text or image laser engravement. To save the best for the last, the Standard gives you the unique option of having its corners rounded or at a 90° angle.
