Introduction
NLOFIN sounds like something you would take to battle a migraine headache, but it’s actually the company behind the NLHX-ET01: an aluminum alloy controller that bears a striking resemblance to DOIO controllers. That said, we at The Arcade Stick would be happy to dive into the nitty gritty of this controller for you. So, shall we?
Unboxing
We won’t make this section too fluffy. What you get with the NLHX-ET01 is quite simple:
- USB-C to A cable
- Instructional manual
Those are the core essentials. Now, let’s move on!
Performance
The fact of the matter is the NLHX-ET01 has 16 main buttons instead of your usual 12. Some of them serve as L3 and R3 buttons for modern fighting game use, while another button is the W jump button of the WASD layout.
That means the NLHX-ET01 is a dual layout controller, which is like buying two controllers in one. Just imagine having only 12 buttons in this day and age…
Fortune favors those who step up their game with a 16 button controller!
Anyway, the NLHX-ET01’s switches are hot swappable for your convenience in the long run. These are Gateron Red switches that are linear and with no tactile bump or click.
As for the NLHX-ET01’s buttons, they feel smooth & durable, and the jump button is bigger than the rest. In general, the button-switch combination results in a moderate sound.
With that being said, the function buttons of the NLHX-ET01 are for:
- L3
- R3
- Turbo
- Home
- Select
- Start
Being bigger than average, the function buttons are pretty comfortable to press. Still not sold on the NLHX-ET01 concept? Well, there is sound-insulating cotton within the controller, making it quieter than your next door neighbor.
Hardware
The NLHX-ET01 is a slim yet spacious controller:
- Slim means you can slide the controller into a tablet sleeve.
- Spacious means you can rest your wrists on it with ease.
You can place the NLHX-ET01 on your lap without squeezing your legs together because it’s wide enough. There are even small bottom pads that are surprisingly effective at anti-sliding. Since the controller is moderately weighted too, you can picture yourself carrying it with ease at the next tournament.
Listen, you’ve got two USB-C ports to choose from: one on the left, and one in the back left. Near the back USB-C port is a USB-A port for a compatibility extending converter. This region is also where the NLHX-ET01’s backlight control lies (more on that later).
Did you notice the NLHX-ET01 has an onboard screen too? Yep, it lets you see things from your live button presses to which input, directional, and SOCD modes you happen to be in.
Appearance
The acrylic bottom of the NLHX-ET01 is partially see-through, so you can see the PCB. Nine screws hold the bottom together. Also, the controller is available in colors like white, black, gray, and even a yellow-orange shade.
You can also go crazy with the colors of the wear-resistant PBT/XDA keycaps—diversifying them as much as you want. The icing on the cake is the LED that lights up the NLHX-ET01 like it’s Las Vegas.
Conclusion
To those who would like to invest in an all-inclusive controller with more buttons than your favorite shirt and without breaking the bank: consider the NLHX-ET01, which may take your game to the next level—securing those wins.
