Quick Fact

This is a clone of the Nintendo Switch edition.

The joystick and buttons of the Fighting Stick Mini 4 feel good, but not as good. The microswitches in the joystick seem to be the same as in bigger units, but the base seems to be shallower. One can expect to perform as well as with bigger units with a little bit of a learning curve to adjust. However, the unit itself is so small and light that extra care needs to be taken to ensure that the unit does not slide off one’s lap despite the rubber feet.

Those blessed with bigger hands will likely find themselves struggling to keep their hands comfortably within the arcade stick’s parameters. On the brighter side, those with smaller hands might find themselves more comfortable with this small and unorthodox arcade stick. As a bonus, although not advertised as PC compatible, a PC will actually recognize it. Unfortunately, there are is no turbo functionality, and button reassignment is nonexistent, rendering the R3 and L3 buttons inaccessible.

The Mini 4 is as small as advertised. It would be a good option for a traveler who would like to keep practicing abroad but is not anticipating strong competition, such as at a high level tournament. Unfortunately, this product is not modder friendly. That is because the case is shallow to the point of not allowing swapping buttons. In addition, the buttons were directly soldered onto one board.

The Mini 4’s visual design can be hit or miss depending on the player’s taste. It goes for a minimalist look of primarily black albeit some varying shades. However, it also ends up looking rather uninspired, and the designer(s) could have ended up with a much more elegant design without straying away from the minimalistic design. That is because the current finish looks rather unpolished.

The Fighting Stick Mini 4 is an average mini fightstick that might catch your eye in the limited sea of competitors.
