Introduction

The future is looking bright… The future is looking white!

Haute42 is a popular and award-winning brand. While its V16 controller isn’t the most popular, the newer V16 Future White edition may solve this problem. For practicality purposes, let’s just call it the V16-FW for now.

Performance

The V16-FW has 16 buttons you can use with modern fighting games. This is a dual layout controller, so you can use it like a standard leverless controller or WASD controller.

That said, all the V16-FW’s main buttons are big. Not only that, the controller utilizes the popular Wind Engine switches that are quite fast.

With 1.2 mm actuation and 2.8 mm travel, you can consider Wind Engine switches faster than Cherry MX and about as fast as Kailh Choc. Yet, the V16-FW’s switches are hot swappable if you have another preference.

As for the V16-FW’s function buttons, they’re labeled as follows:

  • T
  • Touch
  • Back
  • Start

You even get a mini screen on the V16-FW’s top panel, which can show you valuable information like which input, directional, and SOCD modes you’re in. The screen can also show your button presses live—for extra confirmation.

Hardware

The V16-FW is a thin controller mainly comprised of acrylic—and as light as Walter Cronkite. It’s got plenty of space for your palms to rest, and it’s wide enough to place on your lap (or desk). What helps further is its six silicone feet at the bottom for anti-slipping purposes.

Essentially, the V16-FW uses the community favorite USB-C connection, and the port can be conveniently found in the back center. In the back left is a USB-A port where you can insert a compatibility extending dongle like the BOOTER 5.

Appearance

It’s likely that the V16-FW has Future White in its name because its geometric art looks futuristic, and of course, it’s mostly white.

The stars of the show, however, are the LEDs that light up the V16-FW’s buttons, make them beautiful, and also make them more visible if you like playing in the dark.

Conclusion

The V16-FW is most recommended if you’d like all big buttons on your controller. Just imagine yourself at a tournament with this controller that’s light enough to carry around, and its excellent switches allow you to perform at a high level—hopefully winning that tournament!
