Overview

DNST-LLCL doesn’t stand for an LLC that adjusts your DNS settings. Instead, DNST-LLCL probably stands for dennoh-STYLE leverless controller! You see, this Japanese controller by dennoh-STYLE has 14 main buttons and four function buttons.

You can probably use the DNST-LLCL’s two extra buttons for Street Fighter 6 mechanics like the Drive Impact and Drive Parry. That’s because the extra buttons are for LS and RS. Of course, you can use the controller for other games.

With that being said, you’ll likely use your right index finger and right thumb to press the extra buttons. Also, the DNST-LLCL’s jump button being bigger than the rest allows you to press it with your left thumb’s side more easily.

Moving on, the DNST-LLCL’s function buttons are labeled like so in dennoh-STYLE’s schematics:

  • Select/view
  • Start/menu
  • A1
  • A2

You can order 3D printed replacements for the DNST-LLCL’s keycaps if needed. Otherwise, the controller uses Kailh Choc V1 Red Pro switches—with smoothly linear actuation, a short travel distance, easier combos, and faster reactions.

Onward, the DNST-LLCL is one of the smallest controllers. It’s portable, slim, and light. Over the years, we at The Arcade Stick have gotten used to controllers like it being made of acrylic. That said, seven screws hold the controller together.

The DNST-LLCL uses the community favorite USB-C connection, and the port is on the left. Since it uses an RP2040 chip, the controller runs on the excellent GP2040-CE firmware that’s open source.

By default, the DNST-LLCL looks green and allows you to see the internals. To personalize the controller more, you should be able to slide custom art under the top, and we at The Arcade Stick can provide you such art through our years-old service.

To be honest, though?

We’ve seen mini acrylic-sandwich controllers time and time again, but the DNST-LLCL is unique in ways such as its directional buttons (specifically left, down, and right) being in a bit of a straight line instead of a curve.

If such uniqueness is what you’re looking for, consider buying a DNST-LLCL from dennoh-STYLE’s BOOTH store. Plus, maybe you have a big controller already and need a more portable backup option. Finally, maybe you’ve been using arcade sticks since 2009 and would like a not-so-expensive leverless “trial” experience. The choice is yours!
