Overview
When you think of Austria, what thoughts come to mind? Maybe the fact that Wooden Pan makes wooden controllers in that country and ships worldwide!
We at The Arcade Stick are happy to present to you Wooden Pan, which offers meticulously handcrafted controllers in wood like wenge and cherry. Here’s a quick guide to decide which type of wood to go for:
- Wenge is luxuriously dark hardwood with exceptional density.
- Cherry is smooth and light with a warm hue that only deepens over time.
That said, Wooden Pan offers controllers with more than a dozen buttons by default. The extra buttons are for things like parrying, L3, and R3—as well as an extra jump button for the optional WASD layout. This means the controllers can have a dual layout (for the price of just one controller).
The function buttons include start, select, and menu. They can be found on top or in the back. The USB port can also be found in the back, specifically the center back.
Fortunately, Wooden Pan chooses the open source GP2040-CE firmware for its controllers to run on. From tiny input latency to SOCD cleaning modes, this firmware is excellent and popular for a reason. Let Wooden Pan know if you need your controller to be compatible with more consoles.
Truth be told, Wooden Pan’s wood is beautiful on its own, and the walls are 12 mm thick, but you can make the controller even more beautiful by mixing & matching button colors, such as black, white, and even red or purple.
Flip over your wooden controller, and enjoy the see-through panel held by only four screws. You can immediately tell how neat the wiring is.
Listen, you’re not stuck with one layout or set of dimensions. Wooden Pan allows you to request a custom layout and/or size. Reach out today to manufacture the wooden controller of your dreams, getting you one step closer to winning the next tournament. Another idea would be to buy the wenge edition for yourself and the cherry edition for your sibling.
Remember: You’re only good as your tools!
