Overview
Years ago, his dad’s rheumatoid arthritis made him uncomfortable holding a video game controller. So, Michael came up with a more comfortably designed controller for his dad, and the rest was history. In other words, Michael’s dad inspired him to launch RetroGameBoyz—a fine establishment in Florida that has made thousands of sales over the years!
Essentially, RetroGameBoyz makes retro game controllers—including arcade sticks—which can also be used for modern fighting games. For example, the Neo Geo Arcade Stick has four buttons that you can use for Tekken.
Other RetroGameBoyz arcade sticks can have niche features that range from an analog joystick to an Atari-style keypad. The arcade sticks can also differ in size, material, and the number of joysticks/buttons.
That said, the Neo Geo Arcade Stick specifically has Sanwa-like buttons. These 24 mm buttons are the clicky type. The two function buttons are the same size, and they serve as:
- Select
- Start
As for the joystick, it’s a microswitch stick with a standard resistance spring. For an additional fee, you can upgrade it to an actual Sanwa joystick with strong resistance. In any case, there is a shaft cover.
That said, you may need some time getting used to the joystick’s placement with respect to the main buttons. On the bright side, the 15 pin cable conveniently comes out of the center back.
By default, the arcade stick looks like this:
- Black case
- Black cable
- Black joystick
- Black main buttons
- Red function buttons
- Metal Slug art
If you’d like a custom design, Michael from RetroGameBoyz is willing to entertain your request. We at The Arcade Stick would also love to make you custom art through our service.
Otherwise, join RetroGameBoyz’ thousands of satisfied customers today to relive some nostalgia with its custom tailored arcade sticks!
Playing a retro game on an emulator with a keyboard just doesn’t feel the same as with an appropriate arcade stick, right? Also, RetroGameBoyz arcade sticks can be a good buy for younger loved ones with smaller hands. The choice is yours.
