Introduction

You are brave enough to cross a ridge and enter a room where there is a wizard. This wizard then gives you a pearl with a glim to it. At this point, the GlimPearl enters the battlefield!

You see, the GlimPearl is a controller offered by the Wizard Room subsidiary of Braveridge—hence the corny story above. This controller is made in Fukuoka, Japan.

That said, the controller was showcased at the Tokyo Game Show of 2025. Were you there, by the way? Anyway, read on to find out if the GlimPearl can add a glimmer of hope to your life…

Unboxing

While a USB-C cable and warranty card aren’t too exciting to unbox, the GlimPearl’s carrying case is. By using it, you can travel with the controller safely—and in style.

Unzip this semi-hard case to access its velvety interior. There’s another zipper in there that you can unzip to store the cable. There’s also a divider which separates that from the GlimPearl’s own storage compartment. All set? Zip the case back up, and carry it in comfort with its handle.

Performance

There are not one, not two, but three rare aspects about the GlimPearl’s buttons:

  1. They are OneFRAME buttons.
  2. The left thumb button is raised.
  3. The function buttons are more rectangular.

Starting with the GlimPearl’s main buttons, they’re the OneFRAME SB24-WH and SB30-WH, so most of the buttons are 24 mm—with the jump button being 30 mm.

That sizing pattern is pretty standard. What’s different, however, is how quickly the OneFRAME buttons trigger. If you prefer instantaneous inputs, these microswitch buttons are for you.

The GlimPearl has 15 of those buttons, and the three extra buttons are to be used by your left thumb, right thumb, and right index finger.

It’s more common for the right thumb button to be raised and brought closer to the attack button cluster, but in the GlimPearl’s scenario, it’s the left thumb button that’s raised—this time closer to the directional buttons.

Regarding the GlimPearl’s function buttons, they’re closer to being rectangular in shape than the usual round buttons, and these buttons act as:

  • PS
  • Share
  • FN
  • Option

Competing at a tournament? Just use the lock/unlock toggle to avoid pressing a function button accidentally. You can actually see a live animation of your button presses on the GlimPearl’s screen—as well as important information like which SOCD cleaning mode you’re in.

Unlike your typical rubber feet, the GlimPearl’s non-slip pad covers most of its bottom panel, and the controller’s width makes it viable for lap placement.

When it comes to your palms, there’s a 6° slope for your comfort during long bouts of play. Most leverless controllers aren’t sloped, and those that are sloped probably have half the GlimPearl’s slope most of the time—to give you an idea.

Hardware

The GlimPearl is light, but its coolest hardware element is by far its magnetic hinged opening. In other words, you can pop open this controller like a toolkit or briefcase—without a screwdriver. Inside, you can see a guide pasted, and you can also store the following items in a modular holder:

  • Two spare smaller buttons
  • Two spare bigger buttons

The cable goes into a separate compartment nearby. In addition to a custom Wizard Room PCB—which has a hole for more modding room—the GlimPearl runs on the low latency and multiplatform Brook Gen-5X Mini board.

By the way, the GlimPearl’s USB-C port is located in a convenient back center location. Otherwise, this controller features a Nagori resin top panel with a smooth texture and ceramic look.

Appearance

You may even perceive the Nagori resin to have more of a marble look. Essentially, the GlimPearl color scheme can be described as a gray-white-gray sandwich:

  • Gray at the top
  • White in the middle
  • Gray at the bottom

Finally, the buttons & cable are white, matching the GlimPearl, and the black carrying case fits the vibe too.

Conclusion

The best reasons to buy the GlimPearl are its fast OneFRAME buttons, unique left thumb button location, and exquisite marble look.

If Wizard Room and/or Braveridge only ship within Japan when you read this (and you’re not in Japan), consider ordering this controller through a proxy service.

  • 15 fast OneFRAME buttons
  • Longer function buttons
  • Raised left thumb button
  • Magnetic hinged opening
  • Semi-hard carrying case
  • Wide enough yet light
  • Big non-slip pad
  • Palm slope
  • Marble look
  • Info screen
  • Brook board
  • Storage space
  • Aggressive slope not for everyone
