Introduction
Why buy the Joytron EX Revolution V2 when you can instead buy the V5, right? We’re digging its joystick and buttons. We just have to tell you first that it’s a clone of the Mayflash F500, Mayflash F500 Elite, and Venom Arcade Stick, but it does a few things differently—which we’ll tell you immediately!
Unboxing
It’s awesome that the EX Revolution V5 comes with a MagicBoots dongle already. Just insert it into the back USB-A port, and voila, you have compatibility with PlayStation 5 fighting games.
As for the EX Revolution V5’s physical manual: it’s useful, and there’s also an online version of it—which you can use a plugin to translate from Korean to your language.
Performance
The EX Revolution V5 is readily equipped with a Samducksa lever, probably a CWL-309FJ variant. Tekken players may love it due to its resistance that requires deliberate motions.
There are also 30 mm silent buttons in the Vewlix layout, and the EX Revolution V5’s start button being recessed makes it harder to press accidentally.
In case you want to change the EX Revolution V5’s buttons, their size is compatible with other state-of-the-art buttons, so swapping them should be easy.
That said, here are the EX Revolution V5’s toggles and function buttons:
- XInput / DInput / SNK
- LS / DP / RS
- Turbo-1 / turbo-2
- Turbo
- Touchpad
- Create / select / back
- PS / home
Like what you see? Anyway, the EX Revolution V5 is big and with ample wrist space. Not only that, its width makes it comfortable for both lap and desk play—the latter of which is great with the four rubber feet at the bottom.
Hardware
The EX Revolution V5 feels stable due to its ABS enclosure with a metal plate on top and another metal plate at the bottom. Meanwhile, the cable is in a compartment on the left side.
Wanna go inside the EX Revolution V5? There are six easy-to-see screws at the bottom. Once you’re inside, you may be taken aback by how color coded and fairly organized the internals are.
Those with wired headphones can use them with the EX Revolution V5’s jack. Just note that native controllers are needed to connect this fightstick to some consoles, such as the Xbox Series X. Nintendo Switch and Android etc. compatibility should be good out of the box.
Appearance
The EX Revolution V5’s black & blue color scheme is rare and slick. If the top panel accumulates smudges over time, you can just wipe them off with a little cloth.
In any case, we at The Arcade Stick can offer you our custom art service to modify how your EX Revolution V5 looks according to your taste. Our artist Felipe Fernandez even made art for a similar fightstick before—and can make some for yours as well:
Conclusion
The EX Revolution V5 is worth a buy if you like your fightsticks heavier and with silent buttons, especially if they have a Korean lever too. If you don’t live in Korea, consider ordering this fightstick through a proxy service.
