Overview
The Smart AKA RasPi Arcade Stick has Sanwa parts. The shorter cable might have you closer to the screen than you would want to, though, and some of us know how crucial distancing can be in fighting games, with professional Street Fighter player Tokido notoriously whipping out his measuring tape to ensure optimal distance to the screen while winning world championships.
It is clear that a lot of thought was put into the hardware of the arcade stick. In fact, it seems that Talentec is more into the electrical engineering side of things than the actual gaming part, but there was no collateral sacrifice. However, there has been a report of the female connector making the male connector very short and loose when connecting Talentec’s USB Arcade Stick, potentially causing a disconnect amidst the heat of battle. One suggestion would be to change the connector to a deeper one that remains fixed, such as in laptops, for instance.
The aesthetic patterns of the higher end editions of this arcade stick are simple and easy on the eyes, but the lower end editions look subpar. However, the physical dimensions of the arcade stick are quite symmetrical and satisfying to look at, and minimalists might find an appeal in the overall design.
