Quick Facts

  • The “MP” in MPress stands for Maka Pahoa, an ancient Hawaiian double-pointed dagger.
  • The controller is also compatible with the Neogeo Mini and Sega Genesis Mini.

Performance

The Paradise Arcade Shop MX-press Final Pro is a Vewlix layout all-buttons controller with rounded edges that is designed for easy transport while maintaining its competitive ability. It is thin but relatively weighty, providing stability. Regardless, there are holes threaded at the bottom to allow for the addition of feet. The size of the controller is fantastic even for those with bigger hands.

OBS-MX buttons are present in this controller, although without rims, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Their activation distance is a mere 1.4 mm, and they sound good. In addition to responsivity, the design ensures that button caps do not pop off or even wear out. To never miss an input, each switch is soldered directly onto the board.

There is a lock toggle to avoid getting DQ’d in a tournament due to pressing a menu button and so on, but it is small, which is good and bad. It is good so you do not hit it accidentally. It is bad because you probably need to tilt the controller to see it and then squeeze your finger into the tight slot.

Hardware

Of the things you can do on the website, you can choose different button, switch, and PCB colors. The Paradise Arcade Shop is willing to swap out any purchased switches for free. Modders may struggle with lining up the layers of the controller if they take them apart.

Appearance

The artwork has a 3D effect. Even if you choose to add your own logo, Paradise Arcade Shop will likely put the effort into making it multilayered as well. The bottom can have 3D artwork as well. Unfortunately, the bottom plexiglass scratches easily, but it is kind of expected and dependent on where you place your controller while playing.
